Walipini

What is a Walipini, you may ask?

A Walipini is a greenhouse that is engineered to perfection. It is sank into the ground 4-6 feet, and leveraging the earth temperature  to regulate the conditions inside. Ours have tubes underground so we can bring more air in when needed to use for heating/cooling. The building is perfectly oriented to the winter sun, to maximize the growing conditions. We covered ours with a special material on the sunny side, called solex. Solex is a semi transparent plastic that dispersing sunrays all through the inside and providing protection from the harsh sun rays. The walls and the back part of the roof is covered with metal sheets and spray foamed to create seals for the cracks. 

We have solar panels providing energy and water tanks to collect water and a composting bathroom.
